ABOUT BIJOUTIFUL

Barbadian born goldsmith Amber Yearwood is currently based in the bustling little city of Austin, Texas. Though she is completely self-taught, all of her jewelry is made with the finest workmanship possible. She personally makes every item herself, as if for herself. Working in this way, she can be assured that her creations meet her own personal standards before making it's way to you. Paying close attention to her tools and techniques, she strives to perfect her skills as well as learn something new on a daily basis. Amber is also a self-professed “tool junkie”, and quite proud of her ever-expanding collection.

Almost all of her raw metals (wire, sheet, etc.) are recycled/reclaimed metal, and she uses a lot of rare and vintage components in her designs. A lot of these pieces have histories that may forever remain a mystery - which Amber finds to be one of the most romantic aspects of her work. She never uses any harsh chemicals during the fabrication process : citric acid is used as a “pickle” to clean the metal after using the torch, and liver of sulfur is used to oxidize (darken) the metal should the design call for it. She acquires a matte finish either by a non-toxic form of etching, or by use of special abrasives. All solders used in Amber's jewelry are free of lead and cadmium.

Each order comes in a hand-stamped, recycled kraft jewelry box, tied with a lovely organza ribbon - perfect for gifting. Packaging, shipping materials, and business cards are recycled as well.

Some of Amber's work can be seen in the following “brick and mortar” boutiques :

Terrain - An Urban Outfitters Sister Store: Philadelphia, PA

Maude - Rare Finds: Petaluma, CA

Patine: La Selva Beach, CA

If you would like to carry Amber's work in your shop, please feel free to contact her directly with your tax ID/reseller's permit. You will be sent the current line sheet in PDF format, as well as our wholesale terms once your information is validated.

Working alone can be thoroughly exhausting for Amber at times, but she is finally living her dream as a full-time goldsmith, and finds her work extremely satisfying from start to finish. Not only is she bringing nature's beauty into other people's lives, Amber's flowers don't fade in Winter! She tries to reflect her love of the craft through her work, and a bit of her heart goes out with each piece she creates.
